Latest BreakBlocks update: Back to, hopefully, stable operations after hosting migrations

📅 March 09, 2026 • Updated March 09, 2026 • By Sheepy

Hey BreakBlocks fam,

In the spirit of transparency I just wanted to share how things are going behind the scenes.

After the holiday dip, Patreon support settled at around $23/mo—and honestly, that's exactly enough to keep everything humming along with the budget adjustments that I've made made this month.

We're stable, the site stays online, servers keep getting pinged and scanned, and the project continues without any immediate worries.

Big thanks to everyone chipping in at any level; it makes a real difference in covering the basics.

When we switched to more affordable hosting to match what we could sustain long-term.

I knew there'd be trade-offs—and they've shown up in a few places:

  1. The website feels a bit slower on searches and filters during busier moments.
  2. Scanners and pingers are more limited in speed and scale, so fresh server discoveries roll in a little slower.
  3. Mail for @breakblocks.com addresses has some added latency/delays here and there.
  4. Backend stuff runs fine but without much extra headroom.

The part folks will notice most: Block Bot on Discord.

Higher network latency means commands sometimes need a retry or two (it's about 50/50 without persistence), which can make quick lookups feel clunky.

That same constraint makes it tricky to add new features right now—whether to the bot, site search, or anything else—since changes need to play nice with the tighter resources.

All in all, we're making it work with what's available, and the core tools (searching, pinging, scanning, community hangouts) are still doing their job.

A Simple Opportunity to Level Up (If It Feels Right)

I've found a hosting option that could smooth things out nicely but scaling up will cost a little bit.

As we start reaching closer to our monthly goal that will bring us closer to the following goals:

  1. Lower latency → Block Bot picks up commands faster and more reliably.
  2. Way more scanning capacity (10x potential) → Fresher, broader server results for everyone.
  3. Extra breathing room → Site loads quicker, pingers/scanners handle more without strain, mail stays snappier, and there's space to experiment with new features again.

If steady Patreon support grows and we can reach our goals then I can make the switch and bring back some of that extra polish without overhauling everything.

No rush—it's just one way to make the experience nicer for more people.

Easy Ways to Get Involved (or Just Chat)

Patreon → Tiers start low and come with perks like ad-free browsing, unlimited searches, API boosts, vanity emails, and more. Every bit helps maintain and improve.

Discord Community Join the server to share feedback, suggest ideas, test bot tweaks, report quirks, or just vibe with other fans!

I'm also setting up crypto donations and one-time options (like Ko-fi or similar) soon, so there's more flexibility for anyone who prefers non-recurring support—complete with some fun perks.

I'll post details in Discord and on the site when ready.

We're good where we are, but with a little more community momentum, we can make BreakBlocks feel even smoother and more capable.

Appreciate you all for using the site, pinging servers, sharing discoveries, and keeping the conversation going—whether you support financially or not.

Thoughts, ideas, or just "hey this filter is acting up"? Drop them in the forum or Discord. Let's keep building it together.
